Saint Anthony Hospital provides medical
excellence in the care of children and young adults in a compassionate,
family-centered environment. With a commitment focused on treating the
specialized needs of children in an environment designed specifically
for them, we recognize that when it comes to children’s health, one
size does not fit all. Our dedicated team of physicians, nurses,
technicians and ancillary staff are trained in the specialized care of
children.
The Pediatric program at Saint Anthony
is comprehensive and includes a wide variety of inpatient and
outpatient services. The Pediatric inpatient unit at Saint Anthony
Hospital operates 14 acute beds and 4 intermediate care beds. The goal
of the department is to provide care to children that is therapeutic,
non-threatening and comforting during their hospitalization. Parental
involvement and presence is highly encouraged.
Our Intermediate Step-Down Unit includes treatment and monitoring of:
- Intubated Patients
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis
- Status Asthmatics
- Seizures
- Dehydration
- Bronchiolitis
- Post-Operative Monitoring
Additionally, the Pediatric Department includes:
- Pediatric Hospitalists on-site 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
- Pediatric Intensivist on-call daily
- Resident Physicians and medical students from Stroger and Jackson Park Hospitals rotating through the the pediatric floor
Lastly, the Saint Anthony Hospital Emergency Department is "Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics," a voluntary certification through the Illinois Department of Public Health.
